Process Optimization

INERCO has a wide range of proprietary technologies for the global optimization of combustion process in industrial boilers and furnaces (improvement of efficiency, reduction of pollutant emissions, correction of operational constraints, etc.).
Typical results obtained by applying INERCO’s combustion optimization technologies are:

  • Heat rate improvement between 0.5% and 1.5% with simultaneous NOx reduction in 15%-40% in power sector applications.
  • Increased efficiency of 3% to 10% and NOx reduction over 50% in process heaters.

COMBUSTION OPTIMIZATION – ABACO

ABACO is a combustion optimization system that provides improved controls to any existing multi-burner boiler, furnace or heater, using any type of fuel, resulting in increased combustion efficiency and minimum generation of pollutants (NOx, CO, CO2, particles, SO2, etc.).

Main applications of the system are:

  • NOX generation reduction.
  • Heat rate improvement.
  • Reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
  • Mitigation of furnace operating problems: corrosion, slagging, fuel and air imbalances, soot or CO formation, air in-leakages, efficiency losses, etc.

ABACO LOI

Automatic equipment for on-line sampling and measurement of LOI in fly-ash. The system reproduces the reference technique used in the laboratory for the measurement of unburnt matter in fly-ash generated in thermal combustion units.

Additional application for the on-line characterization of parameters such as volatile matter or total humidity content in pulverized coal samples.

Advantages of using ABACO-LOI (with respect to microwave based systems or other monitors):

  • Reliability assured and demonstrated.
  • Unique market existing monitor in which the measurement methodology is the reference technique used in laboratory.
  • High precision.
  • No drift, no calibration required.
  • Unaffected by variations in physical-chemical properties of coal ash or the fly-ash.
  • Unaffected by interferences: hydroxides, carbonates, ammonia compounds, etc.
  • Cost-effective solution involving different samplers with a single analyzer (multiplexing).
  • No obstructions during the transport of fly-ash.
